St. John Lutheran Preschool

Our Mission

The mission of St. John Lutheran Christian Day School is to follow Christ’s example, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, prepare children for a life of discipleship by helping them grow in faith, knowledge, and character.
Jesus says in Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…”

Our Vision

Our vision is for each child to grow in his or her faith with Jesus. Our students encounter social experiences that will build their social competence and collaboration skills.  They will play and learn in an inviting and secure Christian environment, nurturing the whole child, spiritually, socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically.

Our Philosophy

We believe:
* Jesus is at the center of our preschool and that the Holy Scriptures is our guide in educating         God’s children.
* Children are to be encouraged to learn and grow by foundation of developmentally                   appropriate experiences where all children can succeed in a safe, Christian, and
   nurturing  environment.
* Each Child is a unique individual created by God and that they all can learn in their own way.
* Children learn best through meaningful play that encourages curiosity, discovery and problem              solving which
allows each child growth and development of a positive self-image.
* Education should reflect the integration of physical, cognitive, social, and emotional,                          language, self-help,and
spiritual areas for the total development of the child.
* Parents are the child’s first teachers and that children learn best when parents are involved                in  the educational program.
* The primary bridge between home and school is the involvement of the congregation and                  community in training and equipping the child as the Bible reveals. “Train up a child in the                  way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it”.  Proverbs 22:6

What do children learn?

Wonderful events from the lives of our Savior and people in the Bible come alive through storytelling, flannel board presentations and role-playing.
Children spend time together with their teachers reading books, singing, counting, “reading” the calendar and weather charts, and sharing their experiences.
In groups and individually, children grow and learn with language development, reading, math experiences and science exploration.
Children explore their creativity through the use of a multitude of art media.
Children daily interact in some musical experience by singing songs, dancing, listening, and using instruments.
Spacious classrooms and fenced outdoors playground allow for games and large motor activities.
We work together as partners with parents in Christian education. Families are always welcome to visit the classrooms, talk with teachers and participate in children’s activities.
