My name is Mary Hayner. I’m originally from South America, Venezuela. I live in Defiance with my husband and our 10 years old daughter Amanda Grace, who is in 5th grade.

I have an Associate Degree in Law from the University of Los Andes in Merida, Venezuela. I taught at the Law School at the University Santiago Marino for 5 years in Venezuela. I also have a Master Degree in Business Administration from the University Fermin Toro in Venezuela.

I received my teaching degree (Spanish K-12) from the University of Findlay, in Findlay Ohio in 2009.

I have been teaching Spanish at St. John for three years.  I believe in teamwork and cooperation as part of the learning process. It is my main goal for this school year to help the students to become confident learners and I will do my best to reach this goal and make this class a positive experience.

Mission Statement

The mission of our Spanish class is to challenge ourselves each day to become responsible, resourceful, and respectful learners in a global community. Our purpose is to value other cultures’ traditions and language by understanding their perspectives and having an open mind about their practices and products.
