Mrs. Yoder

Hello! My name is Mrs. Cheryl Yoder and I have been teaching second at St. John since 2015.

I am originally from Toledo, Ohio and moved to Defiance for College. During that time, I completed my student teaching at St. John with Mrs. McGhee in her first grade classroom. After graduation I taught preschool at the YMCA for two year.

God’s plan lead me back to St. John in the fall of 2015 and I couldn’t be happier.  I love the students, their families, and the faculty here.  Each day is a new adventure and it brings so much joy.

Currently, I am living in Defiance with my husband and all our pets. We have 5 cats, a bearded dragon, a turtle, a rabbit, and lots of guppies and snails. It can be hectic, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Mission Statement

It is my mission to lead students to become creative and responsible learners, by working hard, challenging themselves and being respectful of fellow students. I will provide an environment that encourages and supports developmentally appropriate activities to guide learning through our curriculum and love of God.

Favorite bible verse

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
