THE WINDOW FOR THE 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR IS NOW OPEN!

The EdChoice Expansion is a program offered through the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). It allows incoming students to apply, provided they meet the low income eligibility AND are NOT eligible to apply for either the Ed Choice or Cleveland Scholarship Program.

If eligible, students will receive financial assistance to help cover the cost of the tuition at a private school of their choice. A student may be eligible for up to $4,650 for grades K-8 and up to $6,000 for grades 9-12. The amount of each scholarship will not exceed the actual tuition amount at the chosen private school.

The following students are eligible to apply for an EdChoice Expansion scholarship:

  • Students entering any grade for the 2021-2022 school year.
  • Students whose family income is below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guideline.

Under current law, students who receive a scholarship can renew it each school year through 12th grade, as long as he/she:

  • Does not move to another public school district, unless the student would be assigned to an EdChoice designated public
school in the student’s new district
  • Takes all required Ohio Achievement Assessments
  • Has good school attendance. Students who are absent for more then 20 days must have written documentation that the absences
were excused for illness, injury, bereavement, etc.

The EdChoice  Expansion program covers the cost of tuition only. Families will be responsible to pay for the cost of any additional necessary school fees. The fees and tuition at each school may be different.  You will need to contact the school you are interested in to get more information regarding tuition amounts and any additional fees and to apply.  Your child must first be accepted for fall enrollment at one of our participating Lutheran Schools prior to applying for the EdChoice  Expansion Program.  Our staff will be able to assist you to complete your application, collect your necessary documentation and will submit your packet to the state.  These scholarships are on a first come first served basis, so the sooner you apply, the more likely you are to receive a scholarship.
