The St. John School Kindergarten Prep (Young Fives) class is a developmental kindergarten class designed for providing "a growth year" for those of kindergarten age who could use an additional year of growth before beginning kindergarten. To qualify for the St. John Kindergarten Prep class, a student must be 5 years-old-by September 30, of the school year. Those children whose birthdays are between September 30 - December 31 may also be concerned under certain qualifications.

The St. John Kindergarten Prep class is a half-day class that meets Monday-Friday. The developmentally-appropriate curriculum for this class utilizes thematic social studies, religion, and more. As a Christian school, St. John includes spiritual education in each class including Kindergarten Prep (Young Fives).
